The Bara Bara No Mi And Lost Treasure
In the flashback, Buggy secretly finds a valuable treasure map and plans to steal it along with a chest of gold for himself. He pretends to eat the Bara Bara no Mi Devil Fruit as a joke, then hides the real fruit and the map, but an accident involving Shanks makes him swallow the fruit for real and drop the treasure into the sea, which he never forgives.
Luffy vs Buggy: True Devil Fruit Clash
Back in the present, Luffy and Buggy continue their fight in the ruins of Orange Town, making it a true Devil Fruit battle: rubber vs chopped-up clown. Buggy uses his Bara Bara no Mi ability to split his body into flying pieces and attack Luffy from multiple angles, but Luffy analyzes his patterns and targets the grounded parts Buggy cannot fully protect.
Nami’s Choice And The End Of Buggy’s Reign
Nami, who has hated pirates because of her past, again sees Luffy fighting to protect others instead of hurting them. She helps by managing Buggy’s separated parts and supporting Luffy’s plan, and Luffy finally lands a powerful finishing blow that sends Buggy’s pieces flying out of Orange Town, ending his rule over the town.
Orange Town’s Peace And The New Crew
At first, some townspeople misunderstand and think Luffy’s crew hurt their mayor, but the truth about Buggy’s defeat and the mayor’s recovery clears their name. Nami then clearly agrees to join Luffy and Zoro as their navigator “for now”, and with Buggy gone and Orange Town safe, the three Straw Hats sail away together toward the next island and the road to the Grand Line.
