Kuro Vs Usopp And The Broken Trust
Episode 10, “The World’s Strongest Weirdo! Jango the Hypnotist!”, continues the Syrup Village arc by pushing Usopp into his toughest situation so far. At Kaya’s mansion, Klahadore (actually Captain Kuro) refuses Luffy’s request for a ship and tears into Usopp, insulting his pirate father Yasopp and calling Usopp a worthless liar.
Usopp, unable to hold back, punches Klahadore in anger, but Kuro uses this as an excuse to throw Usopp, Luffy, Nami and Zoro out of the mansion. Kaya, still believing her butler is kind, remains inside and thinks Usopp is just causing trouble again.
Kaya Still Believes The Fake “Butler”
Alone with Kaya, Kuro puts on a fake innocent act and tells her a sad story about his past, claiming he owes everything to her parents and only wants to “protect” her. He says keeping “bad influences” like Usopp away is his duty as a faithful servant, and Kaya, not knowing his true identity, forgives him and continues to trust him.
Jango, The World’s Strangest Hypnotist
Outside the village, Zoro, Nami and the Usopp Pirates (the three kids) spot a strange man moonwalking down the road in round glasses and a weird outfit. This is Jango the Hypnotist, who demonstrates his ring-swinging hypnosis, but accidentally puts both the kids and himself to sleep at the same time, proving he’s dangerous and ridiculous at once.
Luffy And Usopp Discover Kuro’s True Identity
Near a seaside cliff, Luffy and Usopp talk about pirates and Usopp’s father until they notice Kuro meeting secretly with Jango below. Hiding and listening, they hear Kuro reveal that he is actually Captain Kuro of the Black Cat Pirates and that he faked his death years ago by having a double executed in his place.
Kuro explains the full plan: Jango will hypnotize Kaya to rewrite her will, then the Black Cat Pirates will stage an attack on the village, kill her, and take her entire fortune while making it look like a pirate raid. Luffy and Usopp realize the whole village—and Kaya—are in real danger.
Luffy Falls, Usopp Is Left Alone
Kuro and Jango notice Luffy and Usopp spying on them. Jango quickly uses his hypnosis on Luffy, putting him into a deep sleep and causing him to fall from the cliff toward the ground or sea below, leaving his fate uncertain.
They allow Usopp to escape on purpose, confident that no one in Syrup Village will believe anything he says because of his long history of lies. For Kuro, Usopp’s reputation is a shield that keeps his plan safe.
Usopp’s Desperate Warning
Terrified but determined, Usopp runs back toward Syrup Village as fast as he can, shouting that real pirates are coming and that everyone is in danger this time. The episode ends with Usopp once again risking his reputation and safety to protect his home, while Luffy lies missing after the fall, setting up the coming battle against the Black Cat Pirates at dawn.
